La América opens an office in Mexico

La América, an Argentine-born agency established in December 2017—when the English agency Mother sold the former Madre to its local partners—has announced the launch of its second operation, which has already begun functioning in Mexico City. The new office will be led by one of its founding partners and strategy director, Alejandro Domínguez, who has recently relocated to the Mexican capital.

“We’ve always worked for other markets; that was part of the vision when we created La América,” said Domínguez. “We’ve often been asked why we hadn’t opened in another country: I think we didn’t do it until now because we’ve always thought of the agency more as a place we love to inhabit than as a business. So, if we were to open somewhere else, it had to be a special place.”

A Personal Journey

According to the Argentine advertising executive, the personal desire to experience life outside of Argentina coincided with Mexico’s moment of cultural and economic vibrancy, making it the most appealing destination to live and pursue the agency's goal of expanding its know-how and way of working across the region.

“Mexico offers me the language, a culture that fascinates me, friends, and a lot of affection. It also has many opportunities to work with depth and commitment, which is how I like to work,” he says enthusiastically. “It’s a country that’s in the global spotlight for its cultural heritage, investment opportunities, strategic geographic location, presence of top global industries, and growth projections. But above all, it’s experiencing a moment of change and social redefinition that’s incredibly interesting. I’ve been working for several years on diversity and inclusion issues, and I can see that the upcoming changes here are of such magnitude that they will make Mexico not only the number one hub in Latin America but also a global power. Without a doubt, La América wants to be a part of this and contribute its grain of sand to the construction of this new era in Mexico. I’m here, ready to give it my all.”

Inside La América

The agency has already worked in several Latin American countries, serving clients in Mexico, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Colombia, Brazil, and Uruguay. According to its partners, this move represents “a concrete pursuit since the agency adopted the name La América. Part of that goal is to establish a strong presence in Mexico that will deepen its regional character, a goal that is now being realized with the opening in the Aztec city.”

“At La América, we are a very diverse team with a very simple goal: to come to work each morning with enthusiasm and a philosophy based on the values of independence, respect, hard work, and honesty,” said Sebastián Stagno and Rafael D’Alvia, CCOs and co-founders of the agency. “We are driven by the ambition to generate the greatest positive impact on how companies develop their businesses and interact with people. This same philosophy is what we’re bringing to Mexico because it reflects our way of feeling about advertising. Additionally, it will allow us to bring in talent in Mexico City and combine it with the team we have in Buenos Aires. The idea is to exchange and cross cultures to generate freshness and added value.”
