YOUNG + INDEPENDENCE = COMPLICATIONS AND GUARANTEE
We can all agree that moving out on your own and becoming independent is like playing Daytona: a race where we crash into everything. First, you have to save up the money, then face the arduous task of finding a place that’s at least minimally decent.
We scroll through studio apartments without balconies, rooms of 10m², and apartments 70 km from work. And once we manage to overcome all this, there’s one last hurdle: getting a guarantee, and there’s no help from your aunt. No aunt, no uncle, not even your mom, because nobody wants to be a guarantor for you.
In this country, it’s easier for a relative to donate a kidney than to act as a guarantor. “I’m paid under the table,” “I was a guarantor for someone else,” “Oh, you’ve got me,” “It’s a family thing,” “We’ll see,” and a parade of endless excuses that, we know, will end up leading nowhere.
