There are many classic food-and-drink pairings: sausages with mashed potatoes, cured ham with Russian salad, fernet with Coca, pasta with stew, and mate with bizcochitos — among others, though few are as iconic. But this last duo wasn’t quite living up to its potential. So, we decided to give mate the treat it truly deserves — we swapped the bizcochito for a bizcochuelo.“Let’s bake thousands of fluffy cakes and take them to a place where there are thousands of mates! Uruguay, for example.”

El comercial cuenta la historia de un edificio construido por un arquitecto austríaco Herold de Poul, en 1972. “Durante la ceremonia de inauguración, de Poul, hombre de pocas palabras en su idioma y de casi ninguna en castellano, se acercó al atrio, acomodó el micrófono y dijo: ‘Mi obra maestra’. La frase, concisa y colmada de orgullo, contrastaba fuertemente con lo que presentaba: un edificio aparatoso, parecido a muchos otros edificios de Buenos Aires. Los presentes aquel día, se burlaron de Herold y de su edificio que nada tenía de especial. Luego de este episodio, los departamentos empezaron a habitarse lenta y espaciadamente. Recién en 2009, el edificio se ocupó por completo cuando una familia numerosa se instaló en el noveno piso. Fue ese mismo año que las palabras de Herold de Poul se llenaron de sentido. Un domingo de frío, la señora del noveno decidió hacerle unos Brownies Exquisita a su familia, para alegrar la tarde. Puso la preparación en el horno, el timer en 30 minutos y en ese momento, el piso 9 sonrió”

The commercial tells the story of a building designed by Austrian architect Herold de Poul in 1972. During the inauguration ceremony, de Poul — a man of few words in his own language, and even fewer in Spanish — stepped up to the atrium, adjusted the microphone, and said: “My masterpiece.” The phrase, brief and full of pride, stood in stark contrast to the building itself: bulky, and not much different from so many others in Buenos Aires. Those present that day chuckled at Herold and his building, which seemed to have nothing special about it. In the years that followed, the apartments were slowly and sparsely occupied. It wasn’t until 2009 that the building was fully inhabited — when a large family moved into the ninth floor. That same year, Herold de Poul’s words finally began to make sense. On a cold Sunday afternoon, the woman from the ninth floor decided to bake Exquisita brownies for her family, to brighten their day. She put the tray in the oven, set the timer for 30 minutes, and at that exact moment — the ninth floor smiled.
